Burning Ritual Friday, 11/13

Letting Go and Calling In

Some people say superstitions are ridiculous and that there is no such thing as back luck on Friday the 13th.

I would agree; there is no bad luck on Friday the 13, but it is, however, a magical day! There are 13 moons in a year’s cycle and Friday is recognized as the Norse Goddess Freya’s day. Freya is the goddess of love, fertility, and material possessions. She is a free spirit; her attitude is “girls just want to have fun!”

So what better way to honor Freya, the 13 moons AND the dark time? A little burning ritual with the girls.

For this ritual we took a stack of post-it notes and a pens, a black candle, a white candle, a dish of salt, a cauldron (the ever brewing elixir of life!) and naturally~ Foods of the Goddess: Dark Chocolate and French Red Wine.

We wrote down what we wanted to let go of (rid of) in this past year; anything from fat pants to negative people and unwanted expenses and we lit the paper on fire with the black candle and tossed them into the cauldron. “Poof!” It was gone, never to return again!

Then we contemplated what we wanted to call in for the next year: great abundance of money (of course), health (naturally), and love (always). We wished for healthy children, sound relationships, eternal blessings, and our continued bonding as sisters! We lit those pieces of paper from the white candle and tossed them into the cauldron. “Poof!” The Universe now knows our wishes.

It was so incredibly satisfying to do this ritual. You don’t have to wait until Friday the 13th, try it on a Full Moon, the New Year, your Birthday, or whenever you feel the need to settle your mind on what you really want in your life.

May Freya bless you all!

………Oh, and the wine? It was superb! Cheers!
